I was asked by Rikki Kite, Associate Publisher of Linux Pro Magazine to contribute to the June 2009 "Women in Open Source" issue of Open Source Business Resource. As weird as it feels to self-promote - heck - I'm jazzed! :)
1. Mark Rothko is an artist whose work I have long admired for his intensity of color, depth of field, and shimmering complexity presented as simplicity. His works are large, but he made them to be viewed relatively close up. This seemingly simple and also multidimensional interplay of scale, vantage point, visual texture, and chromatic richness can be seen as an allegory of contemporary life, the simple and complex formed, expressed, and concealed by each other.
2. An undefined title lets me write about whatever I want.
3. "Topical Rothko" rolls off the tongue and feels good to say. Try it - it's fun :)
